Jake Cress - Master Craftsman
Animated Furniture
In a world where furniture makers call themselves artists, Jake pokes fun by building pieces that are designed to make you laugh - and sometimes think. He also makes "normal" pieces of almost any style, a few of which are shown in the Traditional Furniture tab.

Hickory Dickory Clock $25,000
Mark Scala, Director of the Nashville Museum of Art, described Hickory Dickory Clock as follows: Jacob Cress uses traditional woodworking techniques in the creation of fabulous furniture sculptures. In this piece, a dignified grandfather clock comes alive, his face grimmacing as he uses the pendulum bob to smash an annoying mouse trying to run up the clock's cabinet. The other mouse was too quick for the clock's outstretched foot.
"Self-Portrait" walnut $17,500
"Peel Here" walnut and maple $2,400
"Crippled Table" walnut or mahogany $1,875
Aladin's Mouse mahogany 54"L X 19" D X 32" H
Ahh, this is a fun one - even in black and white. It's "The Democrat" table, or "The Republican Table", depending on which way you turn it. Perfectly balanced, it leans either to the left or to the right.
