Jake Cress is a master of animated and traditional furniture.
This unique piece was created in collaboration with artist Mark Young. The oil painting by Young features depictions of Jake Cress' signature animated Chippendale chairs. One of the chair's arms (crafted by Jake) reaches out of the oil canvas to steal flowers from a vase that sits on table also created by Jake.
Perhaps Jake's most famous piece, Oops! features a ball claw chair come to life and reaching for one of it's balls that has rolled just out of reach. This cut and hand-carved mahogany chair was featured in the Renwick Gallery's "Right at Home: American Studio Furniture" exhibition, which was on display from April 2, 2004 - January 23, 2005.
